Serving Groton, CT

The Civic has been a top option among car shoppers at Cardinal Honda for years. In fact, this popular model introduces its 11th generation in the 2022 model year. While many aspects of the Honda Civic have been boldly redesigned, this model continues to be offered in your choice of hatchback and sedan body styles. Before you finalize your Civic selection at Cardinal Honda, you should take a moment to explore the differences between the body style options.

Performance

The Civic Sedan has five trim levels for the current model year, and the hatchback comes with four options. The LX kicks off the trim lines for both body styles. It is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 158-horsepower engine. The engine is combined with a continuously variable transmission. The Sport trim is the next option for both body styles. While it has the same powertrains as you will find in the LX trim, the Sport hatchback is offered with a six-speed manual transmission. You will reach the Civic EX sedan and the EX-L hatchback as you step up the trim lines. The powertrain offered in these trims is a 180-horsepower, turbo 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. Next up are the Touring sedan and the Sport Touring hatchback. While they have the same engine as the preceding trim levels have, the Sport Touring offers the choice of a six-speed manual transmission. If you opt for the top-of-the-line Civic Sedan, your Si trim level will be outfitted with a 1.5-liter turbo, 200-horsepower engine, and a six-speed manual transmission.

Appearance

While the nose of the Civic Hatchback and the Civic Sedan are designed similarly, the sides and rear have their own looks. On the front end, both body styles have a three-part lower fascia, LED headlights that are angled aggressively, and a narrow grille. While the profiles of these vehicles differ considerably, both showoff molding on the lower side panels and angled accents that flow inwardly toward the rear. The hatchback boasts sharp taillights with a liftgate-like trunk. The sedan has a defined trunk lid with a slightly different taillight design.

Features

As your comparison of the hatchback and sedan body styles continues, you will find that the comparable trims are almost identically appointed. For example, the higher trim levels for both options come with a Bose sound system, a sunroof, a 9-inch infotainment system screen, powered front seats, leather material, smart device app connectivity, and wireless device charging. Honda Sensing® assistive aids are also the same in both body styles. These aids are a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, and low-speed automatic braking.
