2021 Honda HR-V vs 2021 Kia Soul

Serving Groton, CT

A subcompact crossover SUV with five seats, the 2021 Honda HR-V has a light-duty platform. A compact hatchback with seating for five, the 2021 Kia Soul is engineered for light-duty performance.

Performance

Optional for the 2021 HR-V, the Real-Time All-Wheel Drive splits the torque between the front and rear wheels based on available traction. The advanced AWD has an Intelligent Control System™ that adapts to various road conditions. Tuned for all-weather driving, the Real-Time AWD is much better than the 2021 Kia Soul's standard front-wheel drive. However, this Kia hatchback runs on the all-new Intelligent Variable Transmission, minimizing potential delays in the shifting mechanism. Paddle shifters allow you to select two different modes for the 2021 HR-V's continuously variable transmission. Standard on the Sport and above models, the Active Noise Cancellation effectively absorbs noise from the powertrain. You will not get such advanced acoustic technology in the 2021 Soul. Additionally, the HR-V's Hill Start Assist serves the same purpose as the Kia's Hill-Start Assist Control.

Technology

The 2021 HR-V offers the HondaLink® 1 mobile application for enhanced utility during trips. You can access roadside assistance at any time through this signature suite. Some other necessary plan features include service reminders, recall notifications, and an owner's manual. This Honda crossover SUV has the HandsFreeLink technology that is powered by Bluetooth. You will also have the option to connect a smartphone with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Similarly, the 2021 Kia Soul offers connections to these mobile platforms. You can access remote services and other features from the UVO Link suite. Some excellent entertainment options inside the 2021 HR-V include Pandora Internet Radio, HD Radio, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. With adjustments from the standard Speed-Sensitive Volume Compensation, the sound system will generate pleasant acoustics on the road. Additionally, the Honda HD Digital Traffic service is integrated into the optional GPS navigation system.

Safety

Standard on the 2021 HR-V EX and above trims, the Honda Sensing® technology reduces the possibilities of crashes. For instance, Collision Mitigation Braking may help you avoid crashing into another automobile that quickly slows down in front of you. The CMBS is matched by the 2021 Kia Soul's Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, managed by the Drive Wise suite. The Adaptive Cruise Control is another notable driving aid that's standard on the Honda crossover SUV. Both vehicles have a camera that records rear views in real-time.
