Serving Groton, CT

While the HR-V and the CR-V are close siblings in the 2021 Honda lineup and have a similar naming strategy, there are substantial differences between these popular models. Our Cardinal Honda sales associates are excited to help you uncover their differences. You can count on us to help you pick out a new Honda crossover that satisfies all of your needs.

Performance

The HR-V is the smaller model, and it is priced several thousand dollars below the CR-V. It has one I-4 gas engine available across all four trim levels in the 2021 model year. This 141-horsepower engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission. Most of the trim levels also have paddle shifters to boost performance abilities. On the other hand, the Honda CR-V is available with an I-4 turbo, 190-horsepower engine through all four of its trim levels. Also, the top three trims have a hybrid powertrain option. The hybrid engine delivers 143 horsepower. Both engines are paired with a continuously variable transmission, but there are subtle differences in the mechanics of this transmission across the various trim levels.

Appearance

As your model comparison takes you to the exterior of these models, you will notice other substantial differences. The HR-V has 17-inch alloy wheels, a crisp accent line angled through the side panels, a liftgate spoiler, and subtle curvature through the roof and down the vehicle’s rear. The CR-V, on the other hand, has smooth definition over the rear wheel wells. The roof is relatively flat as it flows into the spoiler, which elevates the spaciousness of the CR-V’s cabin.

Features

The 2021 Honda HR-V has many of the same interior features as the Honda CR-V. However, there are several trim-specific differences, and the CR-V has a few extra features that are not offered in the HR-V. Shared features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth tech, Honda Sensing® equipment, a multi-angle rear camera, heated seats, and more. Equipment available in the CR-V only includes a wireless phone charger, a heated steering wheel, and a few extras.
